Our Mission Statement: The Newport Yacht Club Endowment Fund supports marine educational projects and activities in and around Newport and the Narragansett Bay area.
The NYCEF Scholarship is designed to support students of all ages in their pursuit of maritime education by providing scholarship support. Applicants must be accepted for admission in an accredited marine based educational program. Preference is given to Newport County residents. Please include the following with your application:
1.An Essay: On a separate page please state why you should receive a scholarship or grant. Why you want to attend this specific program of study. And, what your plans are once you complete the program. Grants need a complete discussion of the activities and project to be accomplished.
2.Letters of recommendation: Please include two letters of recommendation from a teacher, instructor, or an adult who is not related to you and may be contacted for verifiable reference. Please include a mailing address and phone number of the contacts.
3.A personal interview may be requested before a final decision is made by the Scholarship Committee.
4.Should you be awarded a scholarship the Trustees would request that a photo-op at the presentation be acceptable. Also all scholarship funds will be distributed to the school in the recipient’s name rather than a direct cash payment to the student.
5.Scholarship requests must be received no later than April 15 of each year.
6.Requests for grants and project funding are acceptable throughout the year and must be 501(c)3 certified activities.
